RFID Labor Track System Reduces Time and Costs Associated with Manual Timekeeping

San  Fernando, CA (March 1, 2006) – Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), a leader in automatic wristband identification, announces the successful implementation of its RFID solution, Labor Track, at the Philadelphia Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field. PDC’s patented Smart Band® RFID Wristband System improved accountability and accuracy in employee time keeping and reduced time and cost savings at Lincoln Financial Field. The system uses customized software developed by iTelligent Solutions.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a fairly comprehensive snow removal plan which consists of a snow removal crew of about 27 “teams,” each one assigned to a specific area of the stadium with specific responsibilities. Depending upon the snowfall amount, there are anywhere from 400 to 1200 laborers.

Prior to implementing an automated RFID labor tracking system, all aspects of time keeping was performed manually using paper timecards. The manual process led to inefficiencies in the accounting process and was very time-consuming.

Using the new RFID Labor Track, each snow removal laborer enters the stadium and still fills out a paper timecard. A serialized PDC RFID wristband is given to each laborer, and the serial number of the band is recorded on his/her timecard. Every laborer is scanned “in” to proceed with the snow removal, and scanned “out” when he/she is finished working or goes on a break.

“While the laborers are removing snow, our data entry people key in information off of the timecards,” says Dave Duernberger, Director of Facility Operations, Philadelphia Eagles, Lincoln Financial Field. “We have a wireless system so the information goes directly into our server which allows us to run real time reports. With the new system we can run a timecard roll-up report at the end of the event which then becomes the basis for the snow removal vendors’ invoices.”

According to Duernberger, both time and money are saved as a result of implementing the RFID Labor Track system. Other benefits of the system include real-time reporting and laborer attendance monitoring, accurate shift time and break time data, and increased operation efficiency which leads to cost and time savings.

“The new system gives us better accountability overall,” says Duernberger. “There were too many times in the past where timecards were left incomplete. Our policy now is ‘you must scan in and out to get paid.’”

PDC Smart Band RFID Wristbands are issued for each snow removal event which can last anywhere from a minimum of four hours up to forty-eight hours in duration. The laborers’ wristbands are removed upon exit from the stadium. “This process helps us to prevent workers from coming back and saying they worked a full shift but did not get paid. The wristbands are our proof,” comments Duernberger.
